Pius IX

The devotion to the Holy Face is one of the most powerful devotions in the world.

Many miracles are associated with the Holy Face, including the Shroud of Turin and the Veil of Veronica—but so few Catholics actually take advantage of this powerful devotion.

The devotion to the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ and particularly to His Holy Face is one of the oldest in Catholic Tradition. This devotion was practiced by great saints like St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Gertrude the Great, St. Mechtilde, St. Edmund, and St. Bonaventure.

This booklet will be the perfect tool to help you understand the important aspects and practices of devoting oneself to the Holy Face. With clear background information, everything you need to know to begin the devotion, and the many prayers included for your benefit, this booklet will become a treasured part of your prayer life.

Beginning in 1844, Our Lord appeared to Sr. Mary of St. Peter and expressed His desire that world should know and practice this devotion in reparation for man's blasphemy against God. Through the efforts of Sr. Mary of St. Peter, Venerable Leo DuPont, and countless others, this devotion has become better known and more frequently practiced. However, many still fail to make reparation to the Holy Face and don’t obtain the many graces that come from this spiritual weapon.

With this booklet in hand, enter into the spiritual battlefield to which God calls us, making reparations and fighting blasphemy for the Kingdom of Heaven.

First there was a seed. A tiny seed. But it was a seed with possibility…

Best-selling children's author-and-illustrator duo Katie Warner and Meg Whalen (I Went to Mass; This is the Church; Fr. Ben Gets Ready for Mass) bring to life for young readers Christ's famous parable of the mustard seed. Through charming illustrations and a beautiful, scriptural storyline, The Tiny Seed reveals the deep truth of our God-given uniqueness and the incredible process your children will undergo as they grow into the person God wants them to be.

A Note from the Author

Contrary to our modern cultures self-esteem movement, which is more rooted in self-love than God-love, I want my children to recognize that they are great, important, and strong precisely because they are fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139), and their unique identity, rooted in Him, is to be cherished, celebrated, and shared.

This comforting, inspiring book will help you and your children marvel at the ways in which God has made them special, as they grow to uncover how they will use these gifts to share His goodness, truth, beauty, and love with the world.

I hope readers will love seeing their own stories reflected in the illustrations, relishing the process of Gods love blooming in your own life.

A Brief Catechism for Adults is a little masterpiece designed for instructing converts. But it also serves as a useful handbook for lifelong Catholics who want to understand their faith more deeply. After the first edition of the book was used to catechize tens of thousands seeking to become Catholic, this second edition was revised in the light of notes made by numerous Catholic priests who had used the text. So it represents the fruit of extensive experience in teaching the Faith to converts, and for years it was practically the standard catechism in the U.S. and Canada for that purpose.

This book is packed with facts and written in short, clear, question-and-answer format, accompanied by brief Scripture quotes. Using concise, ordinary language to explain profound theological and moral truths, it examines:

What we must believe and do to be saved

How to form a correct conscience

The duties of Catholic spouses and parents

Common mortal sins

The interior design of a traditional Catholic church

How to pray the Rosary

Popular saints names for Baptism and Confirmation

Familiar Catholic prayers

Practical points for responding to common questions that arise in an unbelieving world

A Brief Catechism for Adults is a valuable handbook for becoming a faithful Catholic—perfect for inquirers, but excellent for cradle Catholics as well.

In Ethelred Preston, Fr. Finn's engaging narration entertains readers with a new student, Ethelred, who livens things up at Henryton Boarding Academy. The adventures intertwine a host of Catholic topics and present an entertaining and inspiring vision of childhood. Father Francis Finn, SJ, was an early 20th-century Jesuit priest who wrote delightful children's stories about life in Jesuit boarding schools. Taken from his years of experience teaching Catholic boys, Father Finn writes about various human personalities with warmth and humor that makes for enjoyable reading for the whole family.

Satan and his demons are targeting your family—but his attacks are often far more subtle than most Catholics realize. Exorcist Fr. Chad Ripperger explains why the devil's primary strategy is often not dramatic possession, but subtle attacks on our thoughts, perceptions, and relationships. Drawing from Sacred Scripture, years of experience as an exorcist, and the wisdom of the saints, he reveals how resentment, distorted assumptions, and the loss of daily self-sacrifice slowly erode marriages and family life—and what Catholics can do to resist these attacks. He also highlights God's providence, the purpose of suffering, spiritual discipline, the reality of the occult, and how to achieve holiness in a world increasingly marked by spiritual conflict.

💲Use Coupon Code CGS50 to get 50% off any work of Spiritual Warfare at TAN Books: https://tanbooks.com/books/topic/spiritual-warfare

Special recommendations:

📕 The Liber Christo Method (foreword by Fr.

How can God will or allow evil?

Why does God appear not to answer our prayers?

What is Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence?

This enriching classic will lay to rest many doubts and fears and open the door to peace and acceptance of God’s will. Forever Yours

If God is so good and so powerful, why is there suffering in our world? Why do good people suffer so much? How can we find value and meaning in the midst of the fallenness of the world? These questions—and many others—call for answers. The responses will determine our worldview and way of life. In the Manual for Suffering, the revealed, time-tested, and holistic answer from the depths of the Catholic faith is presented in all its beauty and power. This manual will also provide spiritual aids to navigate and bear with hope and trust the suffering we encounter in our fallen world. The first part lays out the biblical and theological foundations for suffering and the worlds fallenness, while the second offers aids for those who suffer, including passages and excerpts from: Scriptural texts; magisterial teachings; the writings of the saints; and traditional Catholic prayers and devotionals. The purpose of this manual is to help those who suffer find the meaning, purpose, and value of suffering with and in Jesus Christ. It is intended for personal use and private reflection, and to share with those we love who need a guide and companion as they walk along the via crucis, the path of the Cross.

"[Latin is the] language of wondrous spiritual power, transcending the boundaries of the nations . . . from which is removed." St. Paul VI, Sacrificium Laudis

Latin is the universal patrimony of all Roman Catholics. It is one of the three holy tongues nailed to Christ's Cross, along with Hebrew and Greek. Most of all, it is the native language of the city where the holy First-Enthroned Apostle Peter and the Pre-Eminent Apostle Paul shed their blood for the Lord—that is, Holy Rome. And so, throughout the generations, Latin has become the language of the entire Western Church, and, in virtue of Rome's being the seat of Apostolic authority, the universal language of the entire Catholic Church. For over 1500 years at least, all Western liturgy was conducted in Latin. It is the language that when prayed devoutly burns the demons, "the language of the angels," "the speech of the Christian centuries," and "something of priceless worth," as St. Paul VI called it on the eve of its abandonment in the Roman Church's liturgy. Truly, the loss of Latin is the loss of the resonant reminder of the martyrs of ancient Rome. But it is making a comeback, and you can partake of this immense heritage.

Serving as a consummate course in Ecclesiastical Latin, Latin Grammar contains lessons and readings from the Missale Romanum, the Breviarium Romanum, and the Biblia Vulgata. With 195 pages of grammar and a 130-page Latin-English glossary with all the words of the Missal and Breviary, this is a fantastic introduction to Church Latin that will cover all of the bases necessary. With this textbook in hand, you will be able to acquire the skills needed to participate in the perennial heritage of the Church of Rome and all of her daughters in the West. Truly this tongue is a pearl of great price in the treasure-house of the Church; Latin Grammar will grant you access.

From a hidden spark in the early days of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic soon roared across every nation, decimating lives, economies, and social norms. Rather than uniting people to defeat a common enemy, the pandemic has widened economic, political, and social divisions everywhere. It has pitted faith against reason and inflamed the global scourges of poverty, racism, war, and environmental destruction.

The pandemic has also surfaced proposals to remake the global economy and society. Most notable—and infamous—are a set of recommendations from the 2020 World Economic Forum calling for ;the Great Reset.; Blending welfare-state socialism and monopoly capitalism, this would systematically eliminate a fundamental bulwark of personal independence and freedom—the universal right to, and rights of, private property.

Is the Great Reset the malevolent scheme of a vast global elite to control the lives of ordinary people or a well-intentioned but dangerously misguided approach to correct systemic ills? Regardless, there is a question we all must ask: how will the dignity, freedom, and power of each human person be protected and promoted when universal human rights and their Transcendent Source have been rendered irrelevant?

In The Greater Reset, Greaney and Brohawn trace the historical, religious, political, and economic roots of humanitys perilous condition and how returning to God-given, universal principles of natural law, with equal access to the institutions of the common good, can help build a more just, liberating, prosperous, and hopeful future for every person.

The story opens upon Claude Lightfoot, a reckless 12-year-old boy who constantly acts first and thinks later. After getting in a clash with some bullies, Claude is obliged to miss his First Communion.

In the course of the story, Fr. Finn manages to cover a host of topics, including smoking, drinking, the devil, Confession, Holy Communion, retaining one's Baptismal innocence, the 9 First Fridays, the priesthood, mothers and sisters, truthfulness, lying, courage, effeminacy, atheism, sacrilege, baseball, Americanism (true and false), Latin, virtue, honor, leadership, and more!

St. Anselm teaches that praise of God yields the fruit of righteousness. This praise should not depend on “prosperity” or “adversity” but should be a continual thanksgiving. This Church Father insight is the foundation of the Liturgy, where we “bless the Lord at all times”. In the Mystical Body, we recognize that our “high dignity” comes from being raised by His bounty. This is perfected in the Eucharist, the “Banquet” where we “praise Him rightly” with no eager desire that hasn’t been inspired by wanting to praise God.

June 21: Created to Praise God

Why am I not happy with what everyone says are the good things in life, including money, fun and friends? How does being a committed Christian bring true happiness? How can we know that Jesus is truly the divine Son of God who rose from the dead? Is there scientific evidence that heaven is real and, if so, how can I be saved? Why would I want to be a practicing Catholic in todays world? Search No More provides clear, compelling, and concise answers to these and other ;big questions; about happiness, Jesus, salvation, and the Catholic faith. Author Steven Hemler makes the case that the keys to truth and happiness are Jesus and His Church, as experienced by Hemler, the saints, and millions of others over the past 2,000 years. Even though the clerical sex abuse and cover-up scandals have damaged the credibility of the Catholic Churchs witness, this does not negate the wisdom or truth of the Churchs divinely inspired teachings nor prevent us from finding true happiness and joy in her service-oriented community and sacramental graces. Explore this claim for yourself and discover the happiness and truth you are searching for in life. Search No More will be of interest to anyone seeking something more or examining the truth of key teachings of the Catholic Church, including those who were raised Catholic and have questions about the faith of their childhood. Search No More will dispel doubts, strengthen faith, and provide valuable information for discussion with family and friends who have questions about Catholicism.

Like most things we take for granted, the Catholic Creeds have an amazing story—actually a lot of stories. This little book is an introduction to the struggles and heresies concerning the truth, as well as the men who fought to hand it down to us. The Catholic Faith: An Introduction to the Creeds discusses important questions like these:

Why are they called "Creeds," and how were they used in the early Church?

What were the fights, debates and struggles involved in hammering out the Creeds?

Why do Christians have a formal statement of their beliefs when other world religions don’t?

Are the words and concepts of the Creeds found in Scripture, and if so, where?

What is the one most crucial, fought-over, and non-biblical word in the Nicene Creed?

What are the four important “marks” of the true Church that distinguish it from sects and denominations?

What is the significance of the Creeds' emphasis on the bodily resurrection?

Also included are fascinating facts, historical development, arguments for defending the faith, a biblical summary, and much more!

Knowing the story behind the Creeds brings to life our fascinating history and beliefs. The Catholic Faith: An Introduction to the Creeds

This book is both timely and timeless. In God We Trust delves deeply into current economic and market developments and reflects on how U.S. prosperity has returned in 2018, as capitalism has again been unleashed. AuthorGeorge Schwartz says, "What a relief after eight years of economic stagnation and government over-regulation." Oddly, as the U.S. economy has benefited from pro-growth policies, like tax rate cuts and deregulation, there exists a rising tide of sympathy for socialism among leftist politicians and young people. This timeless divide between capitalism and socialism is explored within the context of the economic and moral ramifications for society in general and long-term investors specifically.Readers with historical perspective will appreciate the logic of what should be obvious, namely that socialism has never worked anywhere on earth. As President Ronald Reagan aptly put, "Socialism can only work in two places, heaven where they don't need it, and hell where they already have it."This book is about participating in capital markets while avoiding morally objectionable businesses. As a lover of the free enterprise system and a portfolio manager, Schwartz chronicles how Morally Responsible Investing is helping long-term investors put their money to work in accordance with their moral beliefs. His firm manages Ave Maria Mutual Funds, which were founded in 2001. These pro-life and pro-family mutual funds have attracted over 100,000 shareholders, who have invested more than $2.2 billion in five separate award-winning mutual funds.

St. Francis de Sales, in his meditation on creation, offers a rigorous spiritual exercise to help the soul rediscover its blueprint. Roadmap to Heaven

Fr. Edward Looney reads chapter 2 of book 3 in its entirety and then offers a reflection on Mary as Queen of Earth and powerful over storms, the value of suffering, and our need to pray for the coming of Jesus.

Year 2, Day 96: Volume 2, Book 3, Chapter 2, Paragraphs 16-26

The promise of Eternal life has been a clarion call to the Saints for centuries, rousing them to action and heroic virtue. They knew that, compared with Eternity, this life is but a shadow. We must seek the same destination as the Saints in the midst of a world filled with amusements and vanities that constantly threaten our journey to Heaven.

St. Alphonsus Liguori's Attaining Salvation is a timeless, priceless compass for that journey. Written when the great Doctor of the Church was 77 years old, this treasury of reflections shines with the mature learning of a brilliant mind and a life filled with the study and service of God. With 45 short chapters filled with provocative Scripture quotes, this book is at once challenging and easy to understand. It can be read a little at a time or all at once with equal benefit. The chapters cover a wide range of topics, including "The Thought of Eternity," "We Are Pilgrims on Earth," "I Must One Day Die," "Necessity of Mental Prayer," "The Mercy of God," "Detachment from Creatures," "Lukewarmness," and "Purity of Intention." Attaining Salvation is a beautiful gem that will instruct and inspire every reader because it is written with the commanding insight of one of the Church's great saints. Its words do not just feed the intellect; they nurture the soul. It is St. Alphonsus Liguori at his best.

St. Philomena is perhaps the most extraordinary Saint in the history of the Catholic Church. When the relics of this 13-year-old virgin martyress were discovered in the Roman Catacombs in 1802, she became almost overnight one of the most popular saints in the Church, earning the nickname of "the Wonder-Worker" because of the countless remarkable favors that she sent to those who prayed to her. For a century and a half there was a worldwide Catholic devotion to St. Philomena, approved by many Popes. But amazingly, since the 1960s, she has been almost forgotten.

This little book by beloved TAN mainstay author Fr. Paul O'Sullivan gives the fascinating story of St. Philomena. Fr. O'Sullivan tells of her martyrdom, her miracles, her relics, her partnership with the Curé of Ars, and the great miracle involving Pauline Jaricot, as well as recounting many other true stories of "the dear Little Saint's" generous answers to those who invoke her.

God obviously wishes to give out His gifts and favors through the hands of St. Philomena, and it is His will that that we ask her for them. These pages will give new hope to all who need a special friend in Heaven to answer their prayers.

May this little book help to open up the floodgates of heavenly gifts so that once again this sweet young Saint will become known by that beautiful title: "Saint Philomena the Wonder-Worker!"

Saint Philomena: The Wonder-Worker

Fr. Edward Looney reads chapter nine of book three and then reflects on Mary's vision of Heaven and Hell and how she later shows Heaven and Hell to visionaries in apparitions.

Year 2, Day 103: Volume 2, Book 3, Chapter 9, Paragraphs 99-108

Between 1594 and 1598, a preacher named Francois de Sales converted 72,000 Protestants to the Catholic Faith. These are his words.

One of the most remarkable and well-documented events in Catholic history began when a young priest, St. Francis de Sales, volunteered to re-evangelize the Calvinists of the Chamblais.

Finding his preaching forcefully rejected, St. Francis de Sales shrewdly switched tactics and began a written apologetics campaign, posting pamphlets on walls and slipping them beneath doors under the cover of night.

His defense of the Faith was so clear and thorough that at the end of four years nearly the entire population of 72,000 had returned to the Catholic Faith!

These powerful little tracts are as relevant today as they were in the late 1500s. St. Francis de Sales draws support from Scripture, the Church Fathers, and Doctors of the Church to address questions still frequently posed by modern Protestants. Revered as some of the most cogent arguments against Protestantism ever penned, they present a defense of the Catholic Faith that has never been equaled.

Now with beautiful new cover, easier to read size, updated typesetting, and the original content! 320 pp

Praise for The Catholic Controversy:

"St. Francis de Sales was one of the most effective Catholic apologists and evangelists of the past five centuries. Undoubtedly, he is the most effective apologist to Protestant Calvinists who has ever lived."Steve Wood (Family Life Center International)

“To live life without faith, without a patrimony to defend, without a struggle for truth, that is not living, but existing.”
—Pier Giorgio Frassati

Enter the heart of a passionate young man who in his brief life reached the heights of adventure, friendship, and sanctity.

Born to a wealthy family in Turin at the dawn of the 20th century, Pier Giorgio Frassati was good-looking, popular and athletic. He spent much of his youth climbing the rugged Italian Alps, disappearing into the clouds for days at a time. He was quick with a joke or a prank and enjoyed a good time. It seemed he was blessed with everything a young man could ask for.

But he hungered for more.

Despite coming from a family of such prestige, Pier Giorgio spent most days in the slums of Turin, visiting the poor and serving the sick. His love for Christ burned within him and brushed off on everyone he came into contact with—from lepers and orphans to college friends and political diplomats. He shared his Faith with kindness and charity, and defended it passionately against the evils of Fascism, even coming to blows with Mussolini’s thugs on numerous occasions.

Pier Giorgio touched the lives of thousands, yet his high-society parents remained unmoved by the life he led as they frowned upon his religious practices and charitable work. Reaching them would be his last challenge, his final mountain to climb.

To the Heights is an unforgettable novel about Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Dig deeper than the biographical facts and discover the heart of a charismatic young man whose soul blazes brightly and uniquely among the host of heaven.

To the Heights

In this episode, Conor Gallagher is joined by Michael O’Neill, known as The Miracle Hunter, for a captivating conversation about the mysterious world of miracles. Michael shares how he first became fascinated with miracles and why he believes they have a unique power to stir hearts and open the door to faith.

Together, they explore the Church’s rigorous process for investigating miracles, the difference between big “M” and small “m” miracles, and why God often leaves just enough mystery to invite us deeper into faith. They also discuss miracles in other religions, fraudulent claims, and the Vatican’s recent changes to how supernatural claims — especially Marian apparitions — are handled.

This episode is a fascinating look at how miracles aren’t just about the supernatural — they’re about God’s invitation to see His hand at work in every corner of our lives.

GET THE BOOK

Science and the Miraculous: How the Church Investigates the Supernatural

https://bit.ly/42kFLlK

THE MIRACLE HUNTER WEBSITE

https://www.miraclehunter.com/

CHAPTERS

(1:57) Introduction

(4:04) How Did You Become ‘The Miracle Hunter’?

(7:34) Why Miracles Can Crack Open the Door to Faith

(8:15) Why God Leaves Doubt in Miracles

(10:38) What Is a Miracle?

(12:01) Big 'M' Miracles and Little 'm' Miracles

(14:38) Process of Miracle Investigations

(20:01) Why “Catholic” Miracles Are Ignored

(21:04) Other Religions and Miracles

(23:37) Fraudulent and False Miracles

(34:40) Change in Vatican’s Standards for Miracles

(44:15) Medjugorje

(47:59) Our Lady of Guadalupe and The Tilma

(1:13:17) The Shroud of Turin

(1:26:23) The Shoulder Wound of Christ

(1:31:53) The Stigmatists

(1:40:39) Is the Stigmata the Marking of a Saint?

(1:49:08) Marian Apparitions

(1:52:20) Conyers & The Catholic “Maybe”

(1:54:51) Vatican Guidelines for Apparitions

(1:55:36) Garabandal

(2:02:19) Zeitoun

(2:05:28) Las Lajas

(2:10:06) Healing Miracles

(2:10:41) The Girl Whose Bladder Grew Back

(2:26:05) Incorruptibles

(2:31:24) Eucharistic Miracles

(2:38:18) Saint Januarius

(2:47:05) Weeping Statues

(2:53:11) Closing Comments

Be sure to subscribe to The Conor Gallagher Show for more honest conversations about faith, culture, and the Catholic life.

#MiracleHunter #CatholicMiracles #ConorGallagherShow #MichaelONeill #CatholicPodcast #Miracles #FaithAndReason #CatholicChurch #MarianApparitions #Vatican #CatholicFaith

June 14: We Need the Church to Interpret the Scripture

We are living in an extraordinary time: A Time of Mercy.

But what is mercy? What does it mean to be living in a Time of Mercy? How can we receive Gods Mercy? And how should we respond?

In Doors of Mercy, authors Fr. Jeffrey Kirby and Brian Kennelly answer these important questions. They act as your guides on a whirlwind tour of salvation history, from Adam and Eve to the coming of the Savior, into the present day with the beautiful story of St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy message and devotion.

Youll discover:

How the rebellion of Adam and Eve in the Garden affects our relationships with each other, with God, and with the world around us

Why God chose a rainbow as the sign of the covenant with Noah

The purpose behind Abrams name being changed to Abraham

How the plagues in the time of Moses were not random but had symbolic meaning

How Davids Kingdom serves as a template, or blueprint, for the Church

The hidden meaning behind some of Jesuss well known parables and why the Eucharist is the sign of the new and eternal covenant

How the Church and her saints have spread mercy throughout the centuries, with short biographies of Sts. Vincent, Camillus, Margaret Mary, Maria Goretti, and more

The history behind St. Faustinas visions of Jesus and the spreading of the Divine Mercy message and devotion

How you can continue Christs mission of mercy in your own life…

Follow the intricate stitching of a divine rescue plan that would not be stopped by anything. Across countless generations the Lords mercy acted as the lifeblood of this rescue plan, so that neither our own weakness nor the devil himself could thwart it. He would deliver us a Savior and a King of Mercy no matter what it took, one who would bring His Kingdom to the ends of the earth, and who would smash the very gates of hell.

Doors of Mercy
